Casino Dene in brief
Casino Dene is a Host First Nation casino. That means a casino on First Nation reserve land, with a First Nation as its host. It is one of six such casinos operating in Alberta. Its host is Cold Lake First Nation. The casino first opened its doors to the public on September 27, 2007.
Its designated licensed charity is the Dene Ts'edi Society. The casino began as a vision of the Denesuline (Chipewyan) Tribe of Cold Lake First Nations. It was an economic development plan for the Nation, made real through an agreement with AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis). The Casino Dene page has more on its history.
