Limits, help and online rules

Before a visit to Casino Dene, pick an amount of money and a time to stop. Help with gambling in Alberta is free, and the numbers are listed on this page.

The evening budget calculator

The calculator on this page takes two numbers: an amount of money and a number of hours. It then shows the amount per hour and when to take breaks. It does not estimate wins or losses. Everything runs in the browser, so nothing is saved or sent anywhere. The site sets no cookies and has no forms.

One general tip: keep the money for food and the drive home apart from the evening amount. Leave it out of the calculator entirely. That way food and fuel are covered before the evening starts.

Plan your limit

Your numbers stay on this page. Nothing is saved.

Divide the money by the hours. That is the most for each hour. Take a short break every hour.

This tool does not guess wins or losses.

Tools inside Alberta casinos

Casino Dene uses Winner's Edge, the casino rewards card from AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis) used across Alberta. Members can set spending limits and time limits with the My Activity and Budgeting Tools. Alerts can be set too. The tools work at the Winner's Edge kiosk in any Alberta casino or in the member's online account. The card comes from Guest Services, with government-issued ID, for people 18 or older.

GameSense is AGLC's responsible gambling program in Alberta. Each casino and racing entertainment centre has GameSense Advisors and a GameSense info centre.

Online play in Alberta

Alberta's regulated online gaming market launched on July 13, 2026. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) manages it, and AGLC regulates it. Registered operators must make sure only players physically located in Alberta can play. The legal gambling age in the province is 18. Any operator can be checked in AiGC's directory of registered iGaming sites at abigaming.ca, and an operator missing from it is not regulated.

Play Alberta, at PlayAlberta.ca, is the province's own online gaming site. AGLC runs it, and its revenue goes to the Government of Alberta.

This site carries paid links, marked Ad, on its home page only. They lead to a private online casino chosen by a link partner, and that partner can change. The site earns a commission. The partner is not Play Alberta and has no connection with Casino Dene or Cold Lake First Nations. Under AGLC's standards, online gaming ads must carry a responsible gambling message and must not target minors.
